“Last week my family and I got to go on vacation to the beach. One of my absolute favorite things in the world to do is get up for the sunrise over the waves. It is something that my pops passed on to me years ago. Each morning as I would make the walk down to the beach I would pray simply, “Lord speak, your servant is listening.” Every morning was something new. Different shades would paint the sky. Some days totally clear of clouds, others completely overcast. Some mornings full of the chirping of birds, some totally silent. Always something new to see or hear. God, himself showing off as the eternal artist. Like seeing a brand new picture or painting, a grand masterpiece, each and every day. Breathtaking when you stop and think about it. No two days the same, and I couldn’t wait to see what Hod would come up with next.
By the third day God started speaking directly to me. “Just as you see a new masterpiece every morning, that is how I see each and every child that is born. A masterpiece. No two the same. Breaking the mold after every one.”
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.”
Psalms 139:13-14 NLT
Just as we can look to creation to see God’s qualities, remember that we as humans are His first fruits of creation. We are His created masterpiece. We may look to Niagara Falls, the Majestic Rocky Mountains, or the waves crashing over the shores to see God’s beauty. Yet He calls us HIS MASTERPIECE, HIS FIRSTFRUIT, HIS CROWN.
“He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.”
James 1:16-18 MSG
“He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.”
James 1:18 NLT
